The Day of Your Appointment
If you are seeing an oculoplastic specialist for review of a medical concern, it’s likely the consultation will be billable to your insurance company. Please bring your insurance cards along with a photo ID to your appointment. If your visit is strictly cosmetic, payment will be collected on the day of your appointment.
A typical consultation usually begins with testing done by our experienced and specialty trained technicians. For patients who are having trouble with droopy eyelids, a commonly performed test is a Visual Field, which measures the amount of visual obstruction caused by your lids. Many insurance companies will consider an eyelid procedure a medically necessary treatment if the droopy eyelids hinder your vision to a certain degree. This is just one commonly performed test, but depending on the reason for your visit, a variety of assessments may be completed during your appointment. The physician will discuss your concerns and his/her recommendations for you if a treatment plan is necessary.
